Patricia McCormick
Early life
She describes her growing up life as, "I grew up in a rather bland suburban development, not unlike the settings in my books. It was a place that, perhaps because of the sameness of all the houses, often made me feel different, out of place and lonely,” as stated on Patricia McCormick’s personal website.
Personal
Currently lives in New York with her two kids, husband, and her two cats. She is a journalist and a writer. Patricia is a graduate of Rosemont College in 1978, M.S. from Columbia University, and a graduate of the School of Journalism 1986, and M.F.A. from New School University 1999.
Professional
There many places that Patricia has written for before she decided tot write a book. Some of the people and she wrote for are New York Times, Parents Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, Ladies Home Journal, Town and Country, More, Readers Digest, and others. There are also places she taught at too. Like a professor of journalism at Columbia University. She was also an instructor of creative writing at the New School University. Some awards she has one are National Book Award Finalist, 2006, Publishers Weekly, Best 25 Books of 2009, Publishers Weekly, Best 100 Books of 2006, National Public Radio's Best Books of the Year 2006, American Library Association, Top Ten List, Best Books of the Year, 2006, Booklist 2006 Editor's Choice Award, Gustav-Heinemann Peace Price 2009, Booklist Top Ten Women's History Books for Youth, 2007, ALA Best Books for Young Adults, 2007, Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People, 2007, Chicago Public Library Best of the Best List, 2006, Chicago Tribune Best of the Year, 2006, and a lot of others.
Patricia has currently written 4 books Cut, Purple Heart, Sold, and My Brother’s Keeper.
